Whiteley is a new development in Hampshire situated between Southampton and Portsmouth. The area comes under the remit of Winchester City Council. Whiteley village has an attractive mix of housing and landscaped business parks together with a primary school, shops and plenty of recreation space, all surrounded by protected woodland.

Whiteley has seen a number of residential developments in the past and further development seems inevitable. Clients should have read the Report for The Executive Decision 2008 whereby Fareham Council recommended 3 potential sites for development in line with Government build targets. The Whiteley Lane plot offers a number of attractive benefits such as being located adjacent to existing developments and is close to key amenities with access to a strong communal infrastructure. These are key criteria which greatly enhance the possibility of a change in outline planning in the future.

The Solent Business Park is located nearby (just north of Fareham) which is a major centre of business activity and housing development. The major employer from the private sector is Denplan, with the headquarters of both IBM and NTL nearby.

The potential for housing and development is further enhanced as the Whiteley area is recognised by The South East Plan. The framework recognises the needs and requirements of the region for the next 20 years till 2026. Under the plans Fareham is considered to be a secondary town centre and a proposal for 10´000 new homes and employment space ´North of Fareham´ has been put forward.

Fareham needs to find room for 13,720 homes in the next 20 years which equates to 686 new homes each year. The Whiteley site would accommodate approximately 100 new homes on a conservative estimation. Developments of this size are not uncommon within Fareham
